Is there any shale gas drilling going on in this area? There have been accounts throughout the U.S. in areas where shale gas drilling has gone on of earthquakes taking place where few had occurred before, and/or of earthquakes happening with increasing frequency in places where they were rare before.
I personally believe it is fault lines that are splitting. I agree with the last commenter aswell. I'm from Oklahoma and because of Shale gas drilling there is more violent earthquakes happening in Oklahoma. So, this can also be a possibility. But I would put my money on a fault line.
